CHOOSING THE RIGHT STYLE CHANDELIER

When choosing lighting for your new home or space; the lighting should reflect the room’s best features. Without the right lighting. the room cannot reach its full aesthetic and functional potential!

HOW TO MATCH CHANDELIERS TO YOUR STYLE

Determining a style of chandelier can be an extremely different experience from choosing a style of furniture or fixture. Many furniture and door fixtures have a particular style for different periods like Victorian, French Provincial, Contemporary etc. However Crystal Chandeliers have always possessed timeless designs that have been used to compliment these categories.

When narrowing down selection for your space, it is important to take into consideration whether you want a uniformed look throughout. For example, if you want to match the finish of the chandelier to the finish in your door handles, tap ware or staircase railing etc.

Purchasing a crystal chandelier for a modern environment is a fantastic way to add that touch of sparkle and bring warmth back into an area that can otherwise look stark.

An example of this would be choosing a predominantly crystal centred chandelier with bold lines and clean cuts of crystal, for a sleek and minimalistic room, this would then create a focal point and contrast the rooms' otherwise discreet appearance.

WAYS TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CHANDELIER FOR YOU (REFRACTION AND REFLECTION OF LIGHT)

Crystal shapes and cuts are features that should always be taken into consideration when selecting your chandelier. Larger crystals with sharp lines will create clean beams of light and push forth larger patterns. These kinds of designs are characteristic of more modern styles.  Whereas smaller cut crystals, more commonly found in traditional style fittings; have multiple facets that create a more glittery and elaborate refraction and patterning of light. This can be transformative for any room, and determine the character of the space

For example, Hampton style Homes are known for their bright white walls, natural timber, box wall paneling and cornices. The first thing you should take into account is whether you want to keep to that simplicity, or make a statement. By selecting a chandelier with larger crystals and sharp lines; this will create clean beams of light that compliment the softness of the Hampton style. On the other hand, choosing smaller cut crystals, with multiple facets creates a more glittery and elaborate refraction. Thus creating a centerpiece, a point of personality and character to an otherwise uniformed space.

This same theory can be applied to all styles, Traditional, French Provincial and the like. Remember, there are not always right or wrong choices. Lighting is personal and should be an adventure!
